• On 14 July, the European Commission published new guidelines to sustainable tourism in Natura 2000 areas. The guidelines presents examples of good practice, recommends zoning protected areas and preparing a tourism development plan for each site, and provides indicators that can be used to assess whether tourism activities remain within the site's carrying capacity limits. It also recommends improving visitor infrastructure, linking tourism with nature education and ecosystem restoration activities, and introduces the new Natura 2000 logo and marketing approach.
