Kõrvemaa Landscape Protection Area comprises a part of the expansive bog and forest zone of Transitional Estonia. Kõrvemaa has received its name after large deserted wooded areas. The word “kõrb” has the meaning of a large depopulated forest plate, a wet and gloomy spruce stand.
