Sven Onno was an ornithologist, who studied the birds breeding in Matsalu from 1957-1963. It was on his initiative that studies of the breeding ecology of the common gull, which continue to the present day, commenced in 1972 in Kakrarahu on Cape Puise. Onno perished in a storm.
